HOW TO 'CUT OUT THE CANCER' IN "MALIGNANT".

"Malignant" is a fascinating horror about a battered wife's struggle to purge the toxic voices in her head. She has an incredible journey to rise above her horrific circumstances and claim her power. Is it factually and medically accurate? Of course not. That's not the point. This film operates on a symbolic spectrum, which is powerful and honest. This is the kind of story that all women, regardless of their circumstances, should aspire to achieve.

Madison Mitchell has a secret past, one that she buries in her mind for her entire adult life. That secret is Gabriel. He's the dark voice in her head that tells her to do terrible things as a child. Over time, he quietly grows until Madison no longer has control of her mind or body. He consumes her life and destroys the people she loves.

Regardless of Gabriel's physical form, it's what he means to her psychologically that matters in this story. He is the evil voice in her head. He makes her do bad things, manipulates her, and fills her head with lies. He erodes her self-esteem causing her to marry a violent drunk. She gets stuck in a never-ending cycle of abuse.

Unless she breaks it.

How does a perpetually abused woman break the cycle?

The greatest tool is information. The truth will set you free. For Madison, that truth comes from her adopted sister, Sydney. She holds the key to Madison's freedom. All she needs to do is discover and deliver it.

This is why Gabriel is extremely threatened by her. He claims it's a matter of biology, but his issues run so much deeper. His real goal, same as Madison's abusive husband, is to isolate her from family and friends. They are Madison's greatest source of support and would hinder his mission to gain full control over her.

Every person who tries to help her finds themselves on Gabriel's growing death list. As his murder spree escalates, Madison becomes more desperate to stop the blood bath. She wants her life back. She needs her power back. Her sister's truth helps her do that.

Once Sydney can deliver the necessary revelation, Madison can see what Gabriel is, a monster, and Madison is strong in both body and mind. She just needs to believe in herself. For her whole life, Gabriel gaslights her into believing she is weak without him. Instead, she is strongest without him.

First, she must purge the toxic voices from her head. She must believe in herself. She is the one who is strong. She's the one in control. Above all, she is loved.
