Resist the Temptation

James 1:14 says, "Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away." -NLT

It is always wise to consider the saying:
"If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Especially if that something entails wildly dangerous and illegal activities. It's a lesson that Vee learns in the thrilling adventure, Nerve. An online game calls to her with the promise of fame and fortune. In exchange, she would do anything that the "watchers" dare her to do.

Dangerous things. Illegal things. Life-threatening things. The more dangerous the dare, the more money they would give her if she succeeds.

The rewards are high.

So are the risks.

So are the consequences.

1 Peter 5:8 says, "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." -NLT

Only too late does Vee realize such consequences. She unknowing sells her soul. She cannot quit. She cannot escape. She must finish the game. She must commit the worst possible crime.

Will she consent? Or will she find another way out? Is it too late to get out?

Mark 8:36 says, "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?" -NLT

It is a lesson well learned. Risks come with consequences. No amount of money is worth the forfeit of one's soul. Cling to God. Live well. The rewards will come.
