A TERRIBLE SECRET HIDES IN AN IDYLLIC SETTING

Ever since the short film, Occurrence at Mills Creek , became available, I have been eager to see the completed project. It left many unanswered questions. The mystery behind this horror film begs to be solved.

The feature film continues to follow the college student Clara in her struggle with grief in guilt over the deaths of her mother, father, and 15-year-old sister. With each passing, healthy grief grows into rage and disdain. What's more disturbing than Clara's moments of apathy is the constant airing of her family's dirty laundry. Both her parents are guilty of infidelity, and Cassandra's parentage is called into question.Rumors of a family curse spread through her hometown like a wild fire, a curse that Clara cannot escape.

Such revelations would appear as bombshells to anyone else. However, Clara remains cold, calculating, and even amused by the entire ordeal. She claims to cry, but we don't see it. She attempts suicide, but sneers in the face of her therapist. Everything is a game to her. To what end? What is she looking for.

Something dark lurks beneath Clara's apathetic surface. Though she fails to emote, there is something in her that craves a connection. Thus, she reaches out her extended family, until they too pass away. Both of her aunts try to give her answers, but their warnings fall on deaf ears. Instead, she choses to face her demons head on. Otherwise, the ghosts of her mother and sister will haunt her until the day she dies. Armed with a camera and her father's expensive car, she embarks on the soul-seeking journey she tries to avoid since the death of her sister.

What does she find? Will it set her free from her corrosive guilt? Will the curse be broken?

What happened at Mills Creek: accident or murder?

Stay tuned to find out. In the meantime, check out the short film on Amazon Prime.
